If you've followed my blog, then you know that I am all for becoming independent from foreign oil. Ford has developed a concept model of a solar powered car. This isn't some little tricycle looking thing. This looks like a regular car. Awesome!
Giant Panda baby Bao Bao's public debut is scheduled for Saturday, January 18th. This is at the National Zoo in Washington DC.

Location for Bald Eagle KE, SW Florida, NE Florida, Berry College, and Eagles4kids Eagle Cams, Eagle Cam Behind the Scenes, Sink Holes, Bonobo Apes, Egg Agents, National Zoo's Baby Panda
Reese has posted a new location for Bald Eagle KE. She knows where she likes to hang out!
The Southwest Florida Eagle Cam has a 'hatch watch' clock showing 10 more days... The Southeast Florida Eagle Cam doesn't have the fancy clock, but the first egg arrived three days earlier, so... I'll let you do the math. I looked in on both of these nests tonight and it looked like business as usual. I couldn't look at the Berry College Eagle Cam tonight. Something wrong with the feed...
The Eagles4kids nest is full of snow. But I see footprints, so someone has been there. Their web page shows that it's a brisk -18 degrees there tonight...
I was looking in on the Sooner Lake Eagle Cam and saw a link for "Eagle Cam Behind the Scenes." I have a technical background and find stuff like this to be interesting. If you aren't interested in that sort of thing, at least check out the pictures!
A huge sinkhole opened up in Bosnia. It seems like I'd never heard of such a thing, but now it's a common occurrence. Is this a case of the world becoming smaller due to the internet, or are these happening now and they didn't used to? I looked at the accompanying slide-show and only one picture was from earlier than the year 2000.
Bonobo apes in a German zoo have gone high-tech. They can control which channel is played.
Egg agents recruit women to sell their eggs. This is interesting to me. Part of me feels these women are taking an incredible risk that they may not have any eggs left when they are ready to start their own family. Women only have as many eggs as they are born with, and once they are gone (normally at a rate of one per month) they are gone. Some can view this as incredibly generous and some can view this as putting money above all else. I'm conflicted about this one...
The National Zoo has selected a name for their baby Panda. There is also a video of her first steps at the end of the story. You can't help but cheer her on!

Bald Eagle Camellia's Location, National Zoo's Giant Panda Cub, Stop Feeding Deer, Dead Dog Ad Campaign, Live Bald Eagle Mascot, Washing Meat, Find Momo
Bald Eagle Camellia has also been bitten by the wanderlust bug. (In my post yesterday, I remarked that Bald Eagle NX finally got in touch with her sense of wanderlust.) I wonder if there is some imperative that hit them at the same time? A change in weather or something that spurred them to take a trip...
The two-week old Giant Panda Cub at the National Zoo is a girl! And they know who's-your-daddy...
If you've been feeding deer in Virginia, you have to stop until the first Saturday in January. From what I understand, it is to prevent hunters from baiting deer. And according to a DGIF News Release it is also illegal to feed deer and elk in Buchanan, Dickenson, and Wise counties at any time.
Dead dogs don't sell shoes! Wonder if the bonehead that thought up this ad still has a job...
The largest volcano on Earth is under the Pacific Ocean.
Boston College brings back live Bald Eagle mascot.
Doesn't everyone wash chicken before cooking it? I wash chicken, beef, everything but hamburger. I don't know what's on it from when it was cut and packaged. But according to this article, I could be spreading yuckies by washing it... I'm on the fence here. I always use a gentle stream when washing meat, so I think I'm ok by doing so. I'm just not a big fan of leaving yuckies on something, killing it in the cooking process, and then eating dead/cooked yuckies.
Today's Find Momo is really good!

Bald Eagles NX and Camellia Locations, Two Bald Eagles In A Mid-air Fight, Deep-sea Exploration, Sumatran Tiger Cubs Born At The National Zoo, Slo-mo Video Of A Great White Shark Breaching

A visitor to Alaska photographed two Bald Eagles in a mid-air fight over a fish that one of them had caught.
There is a deep-sea exploration off of Nantucket that is being streamed over the web. They are using a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) that is tethered to the ship to explore the Northeast U.S. Canyons. They usually broadcast from 8:30AM to 4:30PM EDT. Researchers onboard the ship also provide commentary about what is being seen. See it while you can -- I believe they finish on August 17th.
Rare Sumatran Tiger Cubs were born at The National Zoo in Washington, D.C. There is a link to a web cam:
