Dyfi Osprey Day 40,42&43 Rainy Day, Harrison Bay Eagles Day 104&106, Loch of the Lowes Osprey Day 48,50&51 Fledge Watch Continues, White Rock Eagles Day 82&83 Not Sharing A Fish, Bald Eagle MB

It was raining at the Dyfi Osprey nest today. All three chicks did a nose-dive under Mom. My dogs don't have any concept of body size either...

It rained at the Harrison Bay Eagle nest too. This Eaglet is trying to dry off.

The other Eaglet comes to the nest.

The two fledglings sang a duet.

Then there was a solo performance.

Playing with a piece of nesting material.

There was a food delivery. These Eaglets have got a pretty impressive mantle.

They are perching on the same branch tonight.

I was so intent on watching the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Loch of the Lowes nest today. I don't want to miss the fledge. Didn't happen today though. They were all facing the cam when I brought up te nest this morning.

A bug crawled across the camera.

I'm not sure what the huddle was all about. Maybe their was a piece of food that they were trying to figure out how to eat. I can't believe these chicks are old enough to fledge and I've never seen them self-feed...

When I first checked on the White Rock nest, both Fledglings were perched near the nest.

Then they shared a branch.

One of the Eaglets hopped/flapped to the nest, barely getting enough height to stick the landing.

The other Eaglet must not have realized there was food in the nest this whole time because it joined its sibling in the nest as soon as it realized there was food.

No reason to stay in the nest.

Look at this big stretch! The right foot is way back with the wing. You can just see it past the foot that is grasping the branch.

Reese Lukei posted about Bald Eagle MB's adventures. You can read about it here. Here's a link to Reese's earlier post about this Bald Eagle. This Eagle went about 330 miles (very unscientific estimate "as the Eagle flies") in just over three weeks! That's a wandering spirit! This Bald Eagle may not have made it without human intervention and now it seems to be thriving.

Africam Black Eagles Day 7 Only One Chick In Nest, Harrison Bay Eagles Day 66&67 Creepy Crawlies, Dyfi Osprey Day 3,5&6, Loch of the Lowes Osprey Day 11,13&14 Fish Guts

There's a mystery at the Africam Black Eagles nest. There hadn't been any aggression between the two chicks, possibly because one didn't have a big size advantage over the other, having hatched only a day apart. They were both seen on the 1st, but there was only one chick in the nest on the 2nd.

The Harrison Bay Eaglets are starting to go further out on the branches.

I see three turtle shells in this s'cap.

They were both zonked out tonight.

The moderator treated us to this pretty view of the full moon.

I took 17 minutes of the nest tonight and sped it up to 16X to see the Creepy Crawlies living on the nest (1:08).

I think that Dad Dyfi is such a cutie pie!

I know all three hatched, but I still haven't been able to get a s'cap of all three of them peeking out of the nest bowl.

The three chicks are easy to see at the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Loch of the Lowes Osprey nest. The camera has a better view down into the nest bowl.

Mom is spreading her wings to provide better protection of her three growing chicks.

Dad is doing a good job of providing fish to the nest.

I love how they lined up during this feeding. They are very polite during feedings, waiting their turn to get bites of fish.

The babies are growing so fast. Soon, they won't be able to fit under Mom.

It looks like left to right hatch 1, hatch 3, hatch 2.

During a later feeding, they were all lined up again.

Mom pulled a big string of guts out and fed it to one of the chicks.

But it didn't all go down the hatch... When Mom settled back onto the nest, the chick still needed a napkin. I like the detail of the feathers coming in.

Berry College Eagles Day 80&82 Fledge Watch Continues, White Rock Eagles Day 14&15 Murder of Crows

The Berry College Eagles are ready to fledge! Look at this eaglet jumping around on the branches! Wow video (1:01). Fledge watch can really drag out. But I'm starting to think that it will be soon!

I have one other Berry College video from today. If you followed my blog last year, you know that there was a fish disaster last year. Here's a link to the Fish Disaster video. (7:04). Here's my s'caps for the day.

These eaglets are losing their fear. This leap started way out on the branch behind the eaglet and it leaped all the way to the nest.

Hot eaglet...

I just think these are funny...

This is right before the "Wow" video above.

The eaglet on the left is complaining to the parent that the eaglet on the right isn't sharing their food... It looks like the parent is listening attentively.

 

The eaglet was given some time to try to self-feed. Still not very good at it. The parent ended up helping out. Both eaglets got pieces.

Must be something interesting up there.

Look at that mantle!

It was an interesting night at the White Rock nest. The nest was buzzed by a murder of crows. (A group of crows is called a murder.) I think that's why Dad came to the nest. Mom is going to break her neck watching Dad fly in!

I didn't know why Dad left so soon. Mom went on and fed the babies.

Dad came back only a few minutes later. And then it was obvious that they both saw something.

 

Upon a second review, I found I had missed this frame!



 

And then Dad ducked as a large bird flew by again. (This is right after two s'caps up.)

Another fly-by...

And another.

Pesky birds.

I guess the threat is over. Dad shakes to put his feathers right. Neither parent seemed overly concerned or gave chase. I think it was just a murder of crows buzzing the nest?
