I was home this morning and was able to get some good views of the Africam Black Eagle chick. There was a big stretch before standing up.

I love the leggings on these birds!

The flight feathers on the wing are coming in great!

Here's all three Dyfi Osplets in the nest.

Then one-by-one, they took off.

One of the Harrison Bay Eaglets was at the nest this afternoon.

The Eaglet did a call that started to sound like an adult calling. It's like the Eaglet is going through Puberty (1:30):

This is the same Eaglet, hiding in the shadows...

There were quite a few comings and goings at the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Loch of the Lowes Osprey nest today.

I think they are enjoying their new-found freedom.

And with this departure, the nest is empty.

The Soddy Daisy Bluebirds are just hairy blobs at this stage. They aren't being brooded much during the day, probably because the temps are so warm. That allows Mom to go foraging for food for her babies.

It's less than a week for hatch watch at the White-bellied Sea Eagle nest. I'm so eggcited I can hardly stand it! The White-bellied Sea Eagle chick is the cutest thing ever! For now, incubation continues...

Nobody was home at the White Rock Eagle nest today, but the light was pretty and the nest was... GONE! It has been falling apart. And last year a lot of the nest fell away. But now it is completely GONE!!!

We will have to see what next year brings...

I found this gif of a Bald Eagle snagging a fish. Look at the eagle concentrate on the fish prior to the catch. Pretty cool...

Ron Dudley has a beautiful picture of a Red-tailed Hawk on his Feathered Photography blog. He describes it as a juvenile that is hunting.

Camellia checked in late last night. He's near the intersection of Princess Anne Rd and Kempsville Rd.

I zoomed in and it looks like he's in a neighborhood on Belingham Rd:

My friend Diane pointed out this story about Bald Eagle pairs in the James River region. CCB conducted aerial surveys in March and May and have announced their findings. I poked around and found a blog post by Dr Watts that I had missed. He discusses their findings and presents a graph and picture.

Here's a story about relocating an eagle nest so it would be away from power lines. I'd like to see a follow-up story once the resident eagles return to their nest for the next nesting season... See how the eagles react and if they take to the new location. This could have some implications on what's happening with the Norfolk Botanical Garden (NBG) eagles.

I found this story about a bunch of people coming together watching a bald eagle nest. It reminds me of that magical time, watching the NBG nest...

Bald Eagle Locations: NX, KE, and Camellia, Buddy's Appearance at Riverfest And His 5th Hatchday Celebration, Feathered Photography: Red-tailed Hawk, Osprey, Clark's Grebe, and Eastern Kingbird

On May 16, NX was on the banks of the Potomac. In today's post, she is still exploring the river. On my 5/25 post, I wondered how long she would stay there. Well, she must be having success foraging there, since she has been there for almost two weeks now!

KE's location has been updated with her travels up to 5/22. She's a dumpster (landfill) diver!

Camellia's location was updated on 5/27. He seems to be enjoying Pocaty River in Chesapeake, since he is still there... He was first reported there on 5/15.

There is an update for Buddy, detailing his appearance at Riverfest as part of the Birds of Prey Program. Yesterday, I mentioned the disabled Bald Eagle at the Eagles4Kids live cam. I got some screen captures of the eagles today. She was able to hobble across the nest. This is the female, you can tell her right foot is missing the toes:

In this pic, the male is heading out and the female is resuming incubating duties after returning to the nest. Good shot of the egg here and her foot. I don't know why this camera is tilted...

I think this eagle is an inspiration to anyone who is living with a disability!

And I finally got a look at the Sooner Lake eaglets. I'm not sure if I see three or four heads in this shot. The last I heard, there was a pip in the 4th egg. So, they may have four babies in the nest by now.

Have you ever seen a bird that ate too much that it couldn't fly? Check out this story with video. I think they maybe should have left this Red-tailed Hawk alone, with people keeping away from it, to see if it would eventually fly away... Just my thoughts on the matter...

I don't know how three bear cubs end up in a cardboard box on the side of the road in South Carolina. But it sure makes for cute pictures.

There's an orphaned polar bear cub in Alaska. He made his first public appearance. Here's the story. And here's some video. There are two videos on this page and look at the size of those paws in the pic at the bottom of the page! This is a video of a different polar bear cub learning to take his first steps.

The San Francisco Zoo's baby Sumatran Tiger is now on exhibit for limited periods of time.
