Nest Cam Round-up: Hays, Two Harbors, White Rock, Decorah, Maine, Berry College Bluebird, I Need Suggestions!

Great news at the Hays nest. The eaglet that fell yesterday was found perched in a tree. I'm so happy that it is ok. They posted a picture from the cam from today at 15:57:13 of all three eaglets in the nest. You can see it here. They all appear to be ok. So, the fall turned into a fledge. Here are two of them, spending the night at home.

I found the Two Harbors fledgling enjoying a fish this evening and then chilling in the nest. You can't see K43's face here because of a poo smudge on the camera lens, but you can see the fish.

Once she finishes her dinner, she settles into her favorite spot.

Not much to show you of the White Rock nest. Brown blobs from the wide-angle cam... Look at the difference in these two pictures! I had to look at the time stamp to see what makes them so different. (I take so many s'caps I can't remember from one day to the next when I took a particular s'cap. Sometimes I have to take notes so I'll remember why a s'cap was noteworthy...) I much prefer the light, color, and detail in the first s'cap. Unfortunately, I usually can't watch this nest so early in the day unless it's a weekend...

There's an update at the Decorah nest. The eaglet that was rescued from the middle of the road yesterday ate three pheasants! It's believed that it wasn't flying because it was super-hungry. I don't know why the parents aren't still feeding it and showing it how to forage... Anyway, they determined that this eaglet is D20, that it's a female, and that she is strong enough to carry a transmitter. I don't know where or how to obtain her location from the transmitter. I'll keep an eye out for that. So, she was released this morning... And they got a call that a different Decorah eaglet was in a stream. So they rescued that eaglet. It has a broken wing and was taken to SOAR for treatment. They will know more tomorrow after they xray the wing.

I was watching the Maine nest today when both parents arrived with a food delivery. The eaglet claimed the food and took about a half hour to eat it. This is about 20 minutes before the food delivery. There was some great wingercizing and much "squeeeeeing" about it!

The Berry College Bluebird cam was finally back in operation this evening. They are settled in for the night in a fluffy puddle...

And with the turn of a head, they get even cuter! This is nature's feather pillow!

The preening started a couple of days ago. The one on the right is preening its wing feathers. Its head looks funny because it is moving very fast.

This blog isn't all eagles all the time. I've followed the Loch of the Lowes Osprey nest and the Berry College Bluebirds this year. And now the Bald Eagle nests are winding down. What to do, what to do... I've found one alternative! There is a Sea Eagle cam in Australia. They are 14 hours ahead of us. At 6:00PM when I'm getting home from work it will be 8:00AM there. Perfect! Last year, they laid their eggs in early July. So they should be starting up soon, right when we are all suffering from empty nest syndrome... This cam has a really great view of the nest and nest bowl. Does anyone have any other cam suggestions? I'll need something else to tide me over until the Bald Eagle nesting season comes back around.
