Mom had no sooner settled back in when Dad landed in the nest with a fish.
Mom stood up and we got a nice family picture -- back of baby's head. But still...
Then Mom gave the baby its first bites of food.
These s'caps are from today, day 2 for S13... (Have you noticed the date stamp is usually a day off? They are 14 hours ahead of us...)
The baby was hungry and fussing at Dad, who only fed himself...
Dad left and Mom returned to the nest.
Mom must not have realized the baby was hungry, because she just settled in to brood/incubate. She looks fluffy here -- maybe it was a little chilly in the early morning and she was trying to warm up.
I got these s'caps much later today.
The chick already looks much larger than the egg.
I haven't seen the parents perched on the nest tree branches before. This doesn't look very comfortable, but does give a good view of the nest. She was looking all around, ready to defend the nest.
There wasn't much happening in the Africam Black Eagle nest this morning.
I can tell that one of the Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust's Dyfi Osprey Project nest fledglings is laying in the nest. But I'm not sure if that's a parent or the other fledgling standing in the nest.
Here's another of Christian Sasse's pictures of the White Rock nest (this is below the nest), posted here with his permission:
Bald Eagle Camellia checked in.
Bald Eagle Grace checked in.
