Berry College Eaglet Day 81, Nest Cam Round-up: Hays, Two Harbors, White Rock, and Berry College Bluebird

Today is day 81 for the Berry College Bald Eagle. When I first brought up the cam today, the baby was laying in the nest with one of the parents.

The parent left and the eaglet did some wingercizing.

Then it hopped up onto the branch...

...and quickly went exit stage left.

I switched to the approach cam only to find it had hopped back down into the nest. Stinker!

Look at that wing span! This eaglet is a big girl!

The view of the eaglet looking out at the world from the approach cam...

The next time I looked, one of the adults was in the nest. I'm not sure if food was involved...

The baby thinks that food is dispensed from the adult's foot. And she was determined to get some!

The adult keeps doing the rubber neck while the eaglet keeps trying to find some food.

I'm not sure why the eaglet looks like it's leaning here. But it's not...

Eagles stand on one foot all the time. You can see the left foot is off of the branch.

And now it's tucked up. The toes aren't even visible.

This is what the scene above looks like from the approach cam.

I checked in much later and found it was windy and raining. The eaglet was feeling the wind and having a good time!
She jumped up onto the branch and then moved out of sight.

She is wingercizing while on the branch.

She is flapping hard, 'wings up' in the below s'cap.

The three eaglets were spending a quiet evening at the Hays nest. I caught one doing some flapping.

The same eaglet did lots of stretching.

They look like buddies.

The Two Harbors' Eaglet was hanging out with one of the parents today. By this time tomorrow, the eaglet will have some wing bling. You can watch the banding at the Two Harbors cam. It's scheduled for 4:00PM tomorrow, eastern time.

The eaglet stayed in this spot for a while.

Wings spread -- keeping cool.

Eaglets like the edges of their nest, as if they can't wait to expand their world.

Crying like a baby here. When I used to go to the Norfolk Botanical Garden, the eaglets would put up such a racket when an adult came to the nest. This cam has sound, so you can hear the eaglet begging for food.

I have a lot of noise on my phone lines, which affects my internet connection. I was only able to get a few s'caps of the White Rock nest. The chicks were sleeping under the shade of Mom.

The PTZ cam showed this view of the nest.

The Berry College Bluebird is getting bigger. I didn't see the adults trying to remove the leg band today. I guess they've given up on removing it. Here's some s'caps of the little cutie!

The baby tucked its head in and closed its eyes.

But the nap was very brief... The baby was panting to keep cool. They are going to work on improving ventilation after this bird fledges.

Hi baby!

Even baby birds spread their wings to keep cool.
